Fire Safety Plan for The Aspen Grooove.
We may have the opportunity to have a fire barrel at our camp. This privilege requires a safety plan.
Keeping flame attended is the biggest factor: as long as there is _always_ someone there to respond if it starts to spread, and they have plenty of resources to stop that spread (one or more nice-sized ABC fire extinguishers, big bucket o' water, bucket o' sand, smothering blankets, etc. - two or more of these). The designated fire attendant will keep an FRS radio handy at all times to call for help if needed. Obviously we will have to keep flames away from flamables, such as gas, trees, tents, etc.
Any time the current fire attendant is to leave the vicinity of the fire, either the fire attendant finds someone to take over, or the fire gets extinquished.
Since i submitted the camp proposal there has been discussion of bringing "blubba" into the mix. Blubba is a propane flame thrower that lazer dave recently acquired. He has fired it up several times and knows more about the safety of that than i do; but i know it will only be fired *UP* and away from bushes, trees and other objects. We could complement it with fire performances as well, (or vice-versa) if permitted. Our camp is likely to be near center-camp and that is the centrally approved location for fire-spinning.
